Performed in Medical oncology.
What is it?
Chemotherapy is a cancer treatment using medicines that destroy cancer cells or slow their growth. The treatment plan is chosen by a team of doctors.
What to expect
It is most often given through a drip into a vein, sometimes by mouth, in sessions (cycles) separated by rest periods. It can have side effects, which the care team explains how to manage.
