FibroScan (liver elastography)
Performed in Gastroenterology and hepatology.
What is it?
FibroScan is an ultrasound-based exam that measures how stiff the liver is. This gives an idea of the condition of the liver tissue without taking a sample. No dedicated reference page was found among the allowed publishers.
What to expect
The exam is painless and usually takes a few minutes. You are often asked to fast for a few hours beforehand; the result goes to the doctor.
