Common procedures
OCT (optical coherence tomography)
Performed in Ophthalmology.
What is it?
OCT is an eye scan that uses light to take very detailed cross-section pictures of the retina and the optic nerve. It is used to look at the thickness and structure of these areas. No dedicated reference page was found among the approved publishers.
What to expect
The scan is painless, does not touch the eye and usually takes a few minutes. Drops to widen the pupil are not always needed.
