Pregnancy test

Performed in Medical biology (clinical laboratory).

What is it?

A pregnancy test checks urine or blood for a hormone called hCG, made during pregnancy. It is used to find out whether someone is pregnant.

What to expect

For a urine test the result comes quickly; a blood draw takes under five minutes. No special preparation is needed, but it is best not to drink large amounts of fluid before a urine test.
