Common procedures
Scintigraphy
Performed in Nuclear medicine.
What is it?
Scintigraphy is an imaging exam that uses a very weakly radioactive product injected into a vein. A special camera then shows how an organ is working.
What to expect
The exam takes place in a nuclear medicine department and is usually painless apart from the injection. There is sometimes a wait after the injection before the images; metal objects are removed.
